Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

I chose to photograph these very intriguing church ruins in monochrome to draw attention to the old brick work.
The church was built to completion in 1753, and remained in service until 1779, when it was burned at the order of a British general during the American Revolutionary War.
Parishioners rebuilt the church, and it was active again until 1865, when it was again burned during the American Civil War.
This time, the church's destruction was by the Union Army at the order of Gen. William T. Sherman during his infamous march through Georgia and the Carolinas. The church was never rebuilt afterward.
The Old Sheldon Church ruins, which lie in northern Beaufort County near the town of Yemassee, South Carolina, were added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
Photography, to me, involves seeing the light and capturing the moment: the colorful illumination in the sky just before sunrise; bright sunlight dancing on the bubbling current, the glint in the eye of a mockingbird, soft reflected light caressing the face of a child, the dynamic reflection of the setting sun on the beach. As a photographer, I use my camera to share with others my vision of the world. I have been making photographs for as long as I can remember.
